ISDN Basic Access provides two channels Β of 64kbit/s one one channel D of 16kbit/s. Via the two B channels two simultaneous communications can be executed, such as telephony, data, fax, visual telephony etc, while the D channel provides the ISDN signaling.

For the connection of ISDN phone line, it is provided free of charge from OTE, the technical equipment NT1 that supports voice and allocates two receptions for connection of two analogue devices and two receptions for connection of two digital ISDN devices. With ISDN Basic Access can be used also with the “usual” devices of PSTN of telephone network, as the simple telephone device, fax.
 
For the possibility of dial - up access in the internet, it is required a ISDN Modem compatible with the NT1. See following compatible modem with the NT1
